Acupuncturist · Former Midwife · Principal Practitioner

Hi, I'm Hazel, and I've been practising acupuncture in Berkhamsted since 2009.

My background in midwifery has always influenced the way I work. I have a particular interest in women's health and in supporting women through the different stages of their lives.

I believe that good treatment starts with taking time to listen. Every person is different, and I want to understand what is happening for you before deciding how acupuncture might best support you.

From Midwifery to Acupuncture

I had a successful career for many years working clinically as a midwife at various local NHS trusts in Herts and Bucks. I latterly worked as a Research Midwife for the University of Oxford within the John Radcliffe Hospital conducting various studies looking at problems in pregnancy, such as pre-eclampsia and small babies.

It was whilst I was doing these research studies that I first came across acupuncture, as women were using it as a therapy during their pre-conception and pregnancy journeys. I decided to find out a bit more about it, and ultimately made the decision to train in it myself. I started this training in 2005 at the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, and qualified 4 years later with a BSc(Hons) in Chinese Medicine. I subsequently did post graduate training at Guangzhou Hospital in China and am continuously updating my knowledge and training.

Women's health

Women's health has been an important part of my work throughout my career.

I particularly enjoy supporting women around fertility and preconception, pregnancy, perimenopause and menopause, as well as the many physical and emotional changes that can occur throughout life.

My background in midwifery and within the NHS gives me an additional perspective when working with women, while my acupuncture practice allows me to take a holistic approach to each individual.

My approach

I want the clinic to feel like a place where you can slow down and have time for yourself.

Your first appointment gives us time to talk about what has brought you to acupuncture, your health and wellbeing, and what you would like support and help with.

Treatment is always individual and holistic. There is no standard treatment that is right for everyone.

My aim is for you to feel listened to, comfortable and cared for.

The clinic

I founded Hazel Meacher Acupuncture & Wellness Clinic as a calm space for holistic wellbeing in the heart of Berkhamsted.

I am the principal acupuncturist, Sasha also works here as an associate acupuncturist. She has a wealth of experience as an independent acupuncturist and we share our philosophy of holistic care practising both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element acupuncture.
